"Keeping Our Community Active"

In 1995, the City of Coopersville envisioned a variety of programs for youth and adults residing in the Coopersville Area Public School district. The yearly addition of programs has helped the Coopersville Recreation Department reach that goal to meet future recreational and leisure needs.

As of the fall of 2009, the programs offered include archery, basketball for both adults and youth, bantam league and pony league baseball, football, soccer, softball for both adults and youth, Tae Kwon Do, and recreational youth volleyball.

Volunteers last year helped confirm the belief that teaching our youth a passion for sports helps keep them from spending time on destructive behavior. Participants gain increased cognitive and psychomotor skills. Families benefit from the involvement, some as cheerleaders, coaches, concession volunteers and game officials.

Parks

Main Street Park: Coopersville's Main Street Park has park benches for picnicking as well as a hill for sledding in the winter season.

Grove Street Park: Grove Street Park has a softball field and flag football field complete with lighting.

Coopersville Sports Complex: Coopersville Sports Complex is the home of two Little League baseball fields, a soccer field, a softball field, basketball hoops for pick-up games, horseshoe pits, an archery range and a newly built multi-purpose skating rink. The south baseball field and the soccer field both have lights for evening play.

Veteran's Park: Veteran's Park has a pavilion with restroom facilities, that can be used for picnics and other events. There is a $50.00 refundable deposit required to reserve the park. (Note: Non-city residents refund will be only $25.00.) You can obtain a Park Reservation Application here or at Coopersville City Hall.

As a policy, organizations or individuals may use the Veteran’s Park Pavilion. The City has set the following guidelines for usage:

  • Please keep the park clean! Pick up any trash and containers before you leave and be sure to dispose of all trash properly.
  • It is your responsibility to make certain the restrooms are left in good condition.
  • No alcoholic beverages or illegal substances are permitted.
  • No fighting, threatening or harming of persons or property, violent behavior, offensive gestures, or unreasonable noise will be tolerated.
  • If assistance is needed or vandalism/destruction has occurred, please call the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department immediately at 911.
  • Clean up park area and facilities when leaving.
  • Return any keys or equipment borrowed. (Keys may be returned to drop box at City Hall.)
  • Deposits will not be returned unless park and facilities are clean and keys/equipment are returned. If more that $25.00 of damage occurs, the City will hold the individual or organization responsible.
  • Please use available parking on the backside of the park. You will not be allowed to park in the lot in front of the “Re-Find Shoppe”.
