Grove Street Bridge Update 2025

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT has secured $80M appropriated state funds to continue the bridge replacement program under HB 4437. These funds are being leveraged to apply for a matching U.S. Department of Transportation Bridge Investment Program (BIP) to cotinue replacing more bridges in Michigan. The Grove Street Bridge remains on the MDOT’s list of bridge replacement projects in FY26-27. Bid Letting is scheduled for June 2026. MDOT is continuing to fund the design engineeering and impact studies for the bridge. If the $3.1M in funding remains, the bridge replacement will be fully funded by the state. In turn, freeing these funds in the City budget to complete several other projects. We apologize for any inconvenience that this closure may cause.

Will the Grove St Bridge replacement be completely repaired and ready for vehicular use prior to any work being done to the Main Street Bridge?
